The First Tee of Shawnee County

We are a proud chapter of The First Tee national initiative using the game of golf to instill area youth with positive life values.  The program is open to Shawnee County kids, ages 7 – 18.

Enrollment is now open for summer sessions at Forbes Golf Course and no experience is required to begin!

Program participants learn to:
Properly introduce themselves;
set step-by-step goals;
plan for the future;
manage emotions;
appreciate diversity;
transfer lessons learned to the classroom and to everyday life experiences.

thefirstteephoto500Coaches and volunteers build rapport and establish positive relationships, empowering participants in a nurturing and fun learning environment.

Most area youth get their first exposure to The First Tee through school assemblies or community clinics. There are opportunities to participate in The First Tee programming in many USD 501 elementary school gym classes and after-school programming. Summer camp registration is now open.

Equipment is provided and there is little or no cost to participants.
