I connected with Community Action after speaking with a group of parents. I heard about Community Action’s rent assistance program and called to start my application. Wendy was informative, she told me a lot about some other programs that could help me and she really tried to understand my position. She asked me why I wasn’t able to work and I told her it was because I had to stay home with my 4-year-old. She told me about the Head Start Program and that we could apply for that to help me be able to start working.
My fiancé was diagnosed with COVID-19 which caused us to go from one income to none. My landlord recommended Community Action. Within a few days of me calling, Community Action helped with my rent and utilities. The woman who helped me, Jen, was really nice.
I needed help with my rent and everything was done within a week. I work overnight and Jen stayed in contact. She was very comforting and made everything easy to understand. Community Action made it possible for me to pay my rent.
